Canon Vixia HF S30
Editor's Review
The Canon HF S30 would be a flagship model in most camcorder manufacturers' lineups. It uses a large 1/2.6-inch, 8 megapixel sensor and the powerful DIGIC DV III processor for smooth, crisp video. It's also decked out with high-end features like a 3.5-inch, 922k-dot viewfinder, native 24fps shooting, and 32GB of built-in memory. The sensor is the main difference between the HF S30 and the flagship HF G10: The G10 uses a smaller but allegedly more-effective sensor, though time will tell if it is truly better. In any case, the HF S30 is a high-end consumer camcorder that should offer excellent video quality and a great package of features for a more palatable price than its big brother.
