Editor's Review
The GX1 features the same fast 10x optical zoom seen in the cheaper V500 and VX700, but pairs it with a larger 10.6 megapixel backlit CMOS sensor for even better video quality. Such a relatively large sensor means still images will compare favorably with the average point and shoot still camera, making this a great all-in-one option. The GX1 also includes manual modes for those looking for more control, as well as built-in WiFi. As JVC's top-of-the-line camcorder, it comes in at a cheaper price than offerings from other manufacturers but doesn't include any built-in memory. Reviews note somewhat slow menus and video quality that doesn't quite measure up to the competition. If you have some spare SDXC cards, though, the GX1 could be a good choice.
