Pairing a built-in 80GB hard drive with SD/SDHC memory card capacity, the JVC GZ-HD500 gives you the option to record to one, or the other, or both - in fact, if memory runs out on one, it'll switch seamlessly to the other. This high-def camcorder has a handful of nifty features that users of many different levels will appreciate, like Face Detection, Image Stabilization, and a quality Konica Minolta lens. Not to mention touch-screen controls that lie off of the actual image on the LCD screen, so you don't have to worry about fingerprints. High definition camcorders are flooding the market lately, and when all is said and done, image quality is still the key factor for most users. The GZ-HD500 has a high quality image sensor, which sounds promising, but JVC doesn't have a well-documented history of excellent performance particularly in low-light situations, so it'll be interesting to see the final verdict on this one.
