JVC's low-end HM30 camcorder appears to be a 720p-shooter than can effectively upconvert to 1080p resolution. Like the rest of JVC's 2011 lineup, it also sports an impressive 40x optical zoom, Konica-Minolta HD lens, and optical image stabilizer. Most importantly, it's only $230. It pays to be skeptical about upconversion, but for the price, the HM30 might be good enough. Also check out the HM50, which comes with 8GB built-in flash memory.
