The HM960 is JVC's top-notch 2D camcorder for 2011. It's built around a 1/4.1-inch backside-illuminated CMOS sensor, which should allow for impressive low-light sensitivity and overall crisp video results. But the real highlight feature is the built-in 2D-to-3D conversion capability, complete with a 3.5-inch auto-stereoscopic (glasses-free) 3D touch LCD. We're always skeptical about 3D upconversion -- it's a quick software fix for something that should really be left up to hardware -- but even so, the HM960 should be an excellent 2D camcorder, judging by the specs and JVC's success with last year's flagship HM model. Also take a hard look at the HM860, which has the same 2D capability and goes without the 3D tomfoolery.
