The JVC GZ-HD3 is a mid-range hard drive-recording camcorder that records high-definition video at 1440 x 1080i, directly to a 60-gigabyte drive. This is slightly lower resolution than that recorded by the more expensive GZ-HD6 and some other JVC models, but the video quality is nevertheless superior to standard definition. The 3CCD imaging system devotes an entire sensor to each of the RGB colors, producing extremely accurate color representation. A 10x optical zoom lens offers a solid shooting range, though only digitally stabilized, and some limited manual controls make this a good camera for an amateur videographer looking to take a small step up.
