The GZ-MG730 is the top of the line of JVC's MG-series hard drive camcorders. Though not HD-equipped, it packs a large 1/2.5-inch sensor that can record video and stills at 7.38 megapixels. The MG730 is also the world's first camcorder to feature a 1.3-inch hard drive, which allows it to be incredibly compact, small enough to fit in a large pocket. In addition to the hard drive, it also allows you to record video and stills to MicroSD cards, which can be handy in a pinch. The 35x optical zoom lens is only digitally stabilized (something of a disappointment) but the 2.7-inch widescreen LCD is touch-sensitive, which is a nice feature. In all, this is a great choice if you're not ready to jump up to a full HD camcorder.
