The HS80 is one of Panasonic's mid-range 1MOS HD camcorders for 2011. This 1080i shooter features a versatile lens (33.7mm wide-angle with 42x intelligent zoom) and the Crystal Engine Pro processor, also found in all of Panasonic's more advanced (and expensive) camcorders for 2011. We reviewed its card-only sibling, the SD80, and found that despite a well-balanced feature set and an interface made great by a touchscreen and easy switching between Auto and manual controls, the picture quality and performance speed just aren't up to snuff. The HS80 records to a 120GB hard disk, as well as SD/SDHC media cards. Also check out the TM80, which has 16GB of built-in flash memory.
