The Panasonic SD800 is about as serious as a consumer camcorder gets. It's part of Panasonic's top-end 3MOS line, which uses three CMOS sensors for filming; one sensor is dedicated to each primary color, so the color reproduction is incredibly true-to-life. As you'd expect from such an expensive camcorder, it shoots in 1080p at 24 or 60 frames per second, with strong image stabilization and through a bright f1.8, 20x intelligent zoom lens. If you believe Panasonic, 3D is the next big thing, so the SD800 also accepts Panny's 3D-converter lens (sold separately). If you're a serious hobbyist, this is the kind of camcorder you want to be looking at, though we'd probably suggest spending a little extra money for the TM900 or HS900, both of which record audio in Dolby 5.1 and have an accessory port.
