The Panasonic TM80 is a mid-range HD camcorder -- a 1MOS (one-sensor) model as Panasonic puts it. It shoots 1080i video through a versatile lens (33.7mm wide-angle with 42x intelligent zoom), backed up by the Crystal Engine Pro processor, which is also found in all of Panasonic's more advanced (and expensive) camcorders for 2011. We reviewed
its card-only sibling, the SD80, and found that despite a well-balanced feature set and an interface made great by a touchscreen and easy switching between Auto and manual controls, the picture quality and performance speed just aren't up to snuff. The TM80 records to 16GB of built-in flash memory, as well as SD/SDHC media cards. Also check out the HS80, which has a 120GB hard disk for hours and hours of recording time.
