Sony put some thought into this year's releases. If you'll notice, they're all pretty nicely staggered in terms of features--and price--so there's something for everyone. Now if all the features are as great as they sound, we'll really have something here. The HDR-CX300 is a mid-range option and packs a lot of upgraded features into a compact body. Tons of new Intelligent Auto modes, an updated image sensor that's supposed to perform well in low light, and 16GB of internal flash storage drive make this one sound pretty promising. Look to the CX100-series models for something a bit simpler and cheaper, or push towards the CX500-series models if you're a true technophile in search of the highest-end options.
