Sony went all-out with their new line of high-def cams, and the HDR-CX550V appears to be no exception. We won't argue with the features of this lightweight camcorder, from a high quality wide-angle G lens with 10x optical zoom, to the 3.5-inch quality LCD. Improved Auto Focus capabilities, a low-light-friendly EXMOR R CMOS sensor, and 12 megapixels of resolution for capturing still photos are all packed into a compact and (relatively) affordable unit. This camera differs from last year's CX500V due to upgrades like manual shutter speed control and an electronic viewfinder. It's also a step below its hard-drive sister model, the XR550V, but only due to hard drive size - the more expensive XR550V offers 240GB of internal storage, while this model has 64GB. Oh, and incidentally, both models also accept memory cards - both Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo AND SD/ SDHC cards. Is that the sound of Sony giving up its proprietary memory system?
