The Sony PXW-FS7 offers a complete camera system with the ability to record 4K in more than just short bursts. The FS7 has the capability and quality for high-end recording, even for TV and reality shows.

The pro-level camcorder uses E-mount lenses and, with an adapter, A-mount as well. That flexibility gives users a lot of options, with many of Sony's lenses offering smooth iris, focus and zoom control ideal for videography.

The FS7 supports 4k, 10-bit recording, at 180 fps in XAVC-I or 120 fps in XVAC-L. Ultra High Definition is available, as well as slow motion to 60 fps and regular high definition. Those large files are handled by two XQD card slots. Add in an external recorder, and the FS7 can capture 4k footage in RAW format for the most control over the editing process.

The 11.6 megapixel full frame sensor includes a low-pass video filter to avoid moire, plus progressive pixel reading. Four neutral density filters are also built in.

All of these features are wrapped up in a camcorder that isn't too bulky considering the capability. Hand-held or shoulder-mounted positions can be done comfortably, with a number of controls right on the grip.
